MARQUETTE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A legally shot wolf in Manitoba once called Michigan’s Upper Peninsula his home.

In early December, the hunter in Manitoba noticed a radio collar on the wolf he had just shot. The GPS data showed the wolf was first tagged in the U.P. in the summer of 2021.

The data also showed the wolf had gone on quite the journey in that time.

A map plotted by Michigan DNR shows the male wolf traveled through Wisconsin, then Minnesota, made a short stop in North Dakota, and crossed the Canadian border into Ontario. Then, he swung up into the Whiteshell area of Manitoba, traveling 4,200 miles in 18 months.
