DEARBORN (Michigan News Source) – Ford Motor Company is extending the closure of the Rogue Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn for another week after reports of a battery fire in an F-150 Lightning pickup.
The factory first closed on February 5th after a truck caught fire in a holding lot near the assembly plant.
South Korea-based SK On provides the battery packs for the vehicles and is addressing the problem. They have not commented on what caused the problem or what changes they are making in battery production.
Ford hopes to build 150-thousand Lightning pickups this year.
