GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The trial for the former Grand Rapids police officer who shot and killed a motorist because he said he feared for his life has been rescheduled for October.

Christopher Schurr’s defense team moved Friday to adjourn the trial. The trial, which had been previously scheduled for March, is now scheduled for Oct. 24.

Schurr pulled over 26-year-old Patrick Lyoya last April after he says his license plates and vehicle did not match. Body cam footage repeatedly shows Lyoya resisting arrest. Toxicology reports later revealed his blood alcohol limit was 3 times the legal limit.
