DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – U.S. Customs and Border Protection confiscated more than 1,000 pounds of cocaine and 543 pounds of methamphetamine at the border between Michigan and Canada last year.
The agency recapped 2022 on Thursday, with director of field operations Christopher Perry saying meth seizures were up 2,000% from 2021. He added they also seized a large amount of counterfeit items last year.

In 2022, CBP officers welcomed more than 8.5 million travelers at crossings overseen by the Detroit Field Office, such as the Ambassador Bridge and Windsor Tunnel in Detroit, the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, and the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie and the Detroit Metropolitan Airport. That compares with more than 4.3 million in 2021, Perry said.
