LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Facebook post on early Saturday from Las Vegas said, “Love that view. What happens in…”
It was from Michigan’s Democratic House Energy, Communications and Technology Committee chairwoman Rep. Helena Scott (D-Detroit).

Her visit to Las Vegas, Nevada, appears to be a birthday celebration as a subsequent post around midnight Las Vegas time on Sunday showed her posing with a “Happy Birthday” cake.
Scotts’ first Vegas post showed up as hundreds of thousands of Michigan residents were dealing with aftermath of a huge snow and ice storm that had hit Michigan starting on Wednesday. Her own constituents in northwest Detroit and Highland Park weren’t having as good as a time as Scott trying to deal with power outages, accidents and other problems.
Daniel Broman, a United States Marine veteran living in Michigan, posted on Scott’s social media page, “So are you coming back at all to check on your voters without power still or is that only at election time you act concerned about us?”
Scott wasn’t the only one partying over the weekend though. According to an Instagram post, Governor Whitmer is seen attending a show on Friday at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit called “Jagged Little Pill” – Alanis Morissette’s Tony-Award winning musical.

The Midwesterner reported a social media post from a Dearborn woman “yofavv.n404” who posted a photo with Governor Whitmer on Friday and said, “Met the Governor. I can now say I have the key to the city.”
While the ladies were taking advantage of having heat and power during their fun festivities, schools and businesses were closed across the state, air travel was shut down, vehicles were crashing on streets and highways, and a firefighter was killed in Paw Paw after he was electrocuted.
Consumers Energy spokesperson Norm Kamala said in a statement to MLive, “This storm was one of the worst ice storms in recent memory, resulting in widespread damage and more than 11,000 downed wires.”
While Whitmer was at a musical and Scott was in Vegas celebrating her birthday, University of Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh was busy helping a police officer remove a fallen tree out of the road.
