LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – According to a complaint filed by Michigan Rising Action, new campaign finance filings by the Michigan Senate Democratic Fund have revealed the campaign arm of the Senate Democratic Caucus failed to report more than one million dollars in campaign funds properly.

The Michigan Campaign Finance Act requires organizations to file “24 Hour Contribution Reports” for any contribution received in excess of $1,000 within two weeks of an election.

“Michigan Democrats continue to show they think they’re above the law by hiding where they received their contributions,” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action.  “Will Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson continue to turn a blind eye, or will she enforce penalties to the rules everyone else is required to follow?”

The Michigan Campaign Finance Act requires a civil fine of “not more than $1,000.00 or the amount of the contributions and expenditures omitted or underreported, whichever is greater.”
