WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – One of the handful of names that has been floated around as a possible replacement for retiring U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow’s seat is Dept. of Transportation Secretary and new Michigan resident Pete Buttigieg.

However, Buttigieg said he’s not interested in running.

The former South Bend, Indiana mayor moved to Michigan last summer with his husband.

Over the weekend, Buttigieg appeared on “State of the Union” where he said, ā€œIā€™m planning to vote in that election as a resident of Michigan, but look, the job that I have is, first of all, I think, the best job in the federal government,ā€ Buttigieg told host Jake Tapper.

Other potential Democratic candidates for Senator Stabenow’s seat include Representative Elissa Slotkin (MI-07), Representative Debbie Dingell (MI-06), and Michigan State Senator Mallory McMorrow (D-Royal Oak).
