Waverly High School Hires Resource Officer, Takes Out Food Deliveries

LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Waverly High School near Lansing is increasing security measures. That includes a new resource officer who is already on patrol, along with a new rule about food deliveries.

Food deliveries won’t be allowed at Waverly High School starting March 13.

Waverly is starting the stricter enforcement of existing rules regarding opening and closing exterior doors. The district wants to decrease the number of people coming in and out of the building during the school day.

Although they have a closed campus lunch, the school has seen an increase in students leaving for lunch in addition to students ordering food delivery.

Waverly High School hopes to break ground on a new main entrance in the fall which officials say will create a safer, single point of entry.
