PAW PAW, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – What started off as a traffic stop for a cracked windshield and improper lane use in Van Buren County turned into something more serious on Tuesday.

Michigan State Police troopers pulled over a 25-year-old driver near mile marker 55 on I-94. Troopers said they noticed “several indicators of criminal activity.”

Troopers searched the car and found 8.81 pounds of fentanyl wrapped individually by the kilo in heat-sealed bags.

Detectives also learned more information that led to the discovery of $30,000 cash and 4.41 more pounds of fentanyl.

Michigan State Police said the driver allegedly transported the drugs from California to Michigan. The driver is being held in the Van Buren County Jail.
