FLINT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A 26-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly miscarrying her 20-23 week old child, then abandoning him on a sidewalk in Flint.

Flint Police Chief Terence Green said the woman gave a statement, which indicated she was walking down the sidewalk when she experienced pain. She said she thought she was having a miscarriage. Green said after she gave birth, she removed the baby from her pants and tossed it aside.

A couple taking their nightly walk discovered the dead baby in the 1800 block of South Dort Highway.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said authorities are awaiting toxicology reports.
