LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – As the Biden administration prepares to drop the COVID-19 emergency mandate next months, some hospitals in Michigan are trying to get out ahead of it by ending masks mandates.
Sparrow Health System announced on Wednesday that it is easing mask mandates in most public locations of its facilities. No one will be required to wear a mask in public areas of its building, including hallways, cafeterias and most waiting areas.

Officials announced that high levels of immunity and the availability of effective treatments factored into the decision.
Employees at Memorial Healthcare in Owosso went maskless on Friday for the first time in three years.
Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor followed suit this week as well.
