Along with the age and beating they take from the harsh weather, many of these lighthouses are in need of major repair. Two lighthouses in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula will be receiving some much-needed TLC thanks to more than $100,000 in grant funding from the Michigan Lighthouse Assistance Program.

The Rock of Ages Lighthouse by Isle Royale and the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse in the Keweenaw are the recipients of the funding, with work scheduled to begin this year.

Many of these lighthouses are historical properties since many were built in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
