LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – More than 1.2 million Michigan residents are planning to travel for the Memorial Day holiday this month.
AAA Michigan says that number is nearly how many traveled for the weekend in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic and up 79,000 from last year. In fact, 1.1 million will drive and 66,000 will fly to their destinations. AAA says 42.3 million Americans will travel 50 or more miles from home for the holiday.
Nearly 80% of Michiganders plan to travel this year, according to a recent survey from AAA. That number is up from 62% in 2022.
