GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Doctors treated two workers for chemical burns after one fell into a vat at a Grand Rapids electroplating plant on Friday.
The Grand Rapids Fire Department responded to a hazardous materials call at Advance Plating & Finishing on Friday afternoon and found an employee had fallen into a container of sodium hydroxide (lye) and sustained critical injuries. The second worker was hurt when he pulled the first one out.

Firefighters said when crews arrived the two workers were being showered off by co-workers.
Michigan occupational safety and health officials have been notified of the incident.
