MUSKEGON, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Saturday, June 3rd will be the date for the Muskegon Pride Festival. The event will take place from 11:30 am to 7 pm at on Western Avenue from Jefferson to 4th Street and include a parade  at 10:30 a.m. where the Grand Marshal is reported to be Terri King, who is described as a “drag warrior and queer member icon.”

It’s the second year for the festival and the first time they are having a parade.

King will be joined by marchers ranging from Witches of West Michigan, to Muskegon free huggers, to the Mayor of Muskegon, to belly dancers and hoola hoopers. Describing the parade entrants will be Pride Center board member Adam Carlson and drag queen Charm Alina.

Other drag queens at the festival include Chelsea Queen and Kylee Starr.

The festival, which is being advertised for “all ages” is described as a celebration of LGBTQIA2S+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and/or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Two-Spirit) owned businesses, artists, performers, individuals and their supporters.

The festival is free and the organizers with the Michigan Pride Center welcome all who come with a “love-is-love” attitude.

The festival will include over 100 vendors, live music, drag performances, poetry and children’s activities that will occur at Second Street and Western Avenue throughout the day. At the end of the festival, the fun will continue with a drag show by Doll House Productions at Unruly Brewing at 8:30 p.m.

Jeffrey Pienela, president of Muskegon Pride Center says, “I am so excited to be able to have a hand in making a celebration for pride that not only the city is allowing us to have, but wanting to participate in. This is not just a pride celebration showcasing being proud of who we are, but a showcase to celebrate the entire community coming together with acceptance and love.”
