MARQUETTE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – An eight-year-old boy who got lost in one of the most remote regions in Michigan for two days was found safe on Monday.

Nante Niemi of Hurley, Wisconsin, and his family were camping in the Upper Peninsula’s Porcupine Mountains. Sometime on Saturday afternoon, the boy went looking for firewood and never returned.

More than 150 Michigan State Police, other law enforcement partners, and volunteers searched for Nante. Rescuers found him two miles from camp underneath a log. He seemed healthy and with no injuries.
