He says, “What stood out to me when it came to Michigan State was how fast I fell in love with the campus. I could really see myself going to school here in East Lansing. That, combined with building a great relationship with Coach Johnson, brought an enticing feel to Michigan State.”

Originally deciding to play collegiate lacrosse, committing to Maryland in December, Hasselbeck changed his mind and chose to follow football. He says, “I’d like to publicly thank Maryland’s men’s lacrosse coach John Tillman for his unwavering support and the opportunity to play lacrosse at the University of Maryland. A true dream for me. Thank you for treating me like family. I am your biggest fan. With that being said, I’ve decided to play college football instead.”

MSU now has a top 40 class for 2024 with Hasselbeck, four-star running back Anthony Carrie, and three-star offensive tackle Andrew Dennis headlining the class.
