DeBrincat, a Farmington Hills, Mich., native, was signed to a four-year $7.8 million annually contract. Yzerman acquired DeBrincat from Ottawa from left win Dominik Kubalik, defenseman Donovan Sebrango, a conditional first-round selection and a fourth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

“Growing up here and rooting for the Red Wings when I was younger, it’s definitely a dream come true. I don’t think anyone is happier than my parents. Everyone’s happy. It’s a good spot for me,” said DeBrincat.

In his six season career in the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks and Ottawa Senators, he has 187 goals and 373 points. Last year, he posted 27 goals with 66 points as 11 goals came on power plays as six won games.
