During a press briefing last Thursday with Grand Traverse County’s Capt. Chris Clark, Michigan News Source learned of the sub attack.
The sandwich in question, identified as the weapon used in the alleged assault, was apparently dropped on the victim, not thrown. The incident happened on Monday, June 26th, with the woman telling the police that she had been offering a 57-year-old male acquaintance a bite of her sandwich but it had fallen and hit him in the face.
The man felt “threatened” by what happened and accused the woman of assaulting him with her sandwich.
Capt. Clark said at the briefing that police were called last Monday at 3:31 p.m. about the alleged assault that happened near Keystone Road.
When Michigan News Source asked if the submarine sandwich was purchased at a local fast food restaurant or was homemade – or if it was a meat or vegetarian sub – this information was not readily available as the police officer who filed the report didn’t get into much specificity other than if was “floppy” but still mostly intact.
Clark reported that there was a witness to the alleged assault. The case remains under investigation and the incident has been sent to the Grand Traverse Prosecutor’s Office for a review.
