DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Retired Detroit Police Chief James Craig says he is “99-percent there” in terms of making a decision on whether to run for the state’s vacant U.S. Senate seat next year.
Craig had run for the Republican nomination for governor in 2022, but was knocked off the ballot for petition signature inconsistencies.

A recent national poll finds Craig seven-points behind Democratic frontrunner, Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin. EPIC-MRA pollster Bernie Porn says in their latest polls, Craig is closer to Slotkin.
Current U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow is retiring in 2024.
