KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Jeff Titus is suing two cold case detectives for $100 million after he spent over 21 years in prison in the murders of hunters Doug Estes and Jim Bennett in Kalamazoo County in 1990.
Titus filed the federal lawsuit Tuesday against retired detectives Michael Werkema and Mike Brown, with both of them saying they still believe Titus was the killer.

His attorney says the detectives ignored the possibility that convicted serial killer Thomas Dillon had been identified by witnesses as someone whose car was stuck in a ditch near where the hunters were killed and that alibi witnesses put Titus miles from the scene.
Dillon died in prison.
