ORCHARD LAKE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The head baseball coach at Orchard Lake High School in Oakland County has been fired for violating the school’s employee conduct guidelines.
Matt Petry has been the head baseball coach and director of admissions at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep for 13 years and led the school to four state championships. Spanning from the 2021 season through the 2023 season, St. Mary’s put together an 84-game win streak to set the MHAA record for consecutive wins. The mark fell short of the national record of 89 wins when St. Mary’s finally lost in its 19th game of the season last spring. Petry coached 13 years at St. Mary’s.
Petry is the son of former Detroit Tigers pitcher and current broadcaster Dan Petry.
