LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – With less than six months to go until the presidential primary season, Michigan’s two political parties are focusing on two different strategies.

Michigan’s GOP has announced an action plan to “solve election corruption,” while Michigan Democrats are focused on making sure their party is elected “up and down the ballot in 2024.”

In an email sent to supporters on Tuesday morning, Michigan GOP Chair Kristina Karamo announced the MIGOP Election Security Operations Program (ESOP). She said the plan boasts “18 Areas of Responsibility” which aims to ensure the security of our elections. According to the email, donations to the Michigan GOP will directly fund staff, IT, lawyers, equipment, marketing, and FOIA requests for election fraud.

On the flip side, Michigan Democrats appear laser-focused on fundraising so that every Democrat from President Joe Biden to local offices are elected. “We need to make sure our winning grassroots strategy is fully funded so we can turn out more voters and secure wins up and down the ballot for Democrats,” Michigan Democrat Chair Lavora Barnes wrote to supporters in mid-August. “We can’t do this work without financial resources, which is where you come in.”

It appears Michigan’s Democrat Party may be repeating what worked for them in the last election cycle. In November 2022, Democrats took control off the top offices in Michigan along with both chambers in Lansing. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer boasted tens of millions of dollars in her reelection war chest, while defeated GOP gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon blamed the Michigan GOP for not supporting her campaign.

Later this month, the Michigan GOP will seek to recharge its base at the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference on Mackinac Island.
