DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – A strike at Ascension Providence hospital in the Detroit suburb of Rochester began on Monday morning by nurses and radiology technicians.

OPEIU Local 40 union officials say their members authorized the strike that will continue through Thursday. The hospital and the union have been negotiating since last year but little progress has been reported. Union members say they have not gotten a pay raise in several years and claim the hospital is engaged in illegal activity.

They have asked Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald to investigate.

The union adds the hospital has participated in recessive bargaining and hasn’t provided relevant negotiation information.
