WARREN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Warren Mayor Jim Fouts is being accused by the city council of overspending.
A forensic audit finds Fouts spent more than $460,000 in the 2021-22 fiscal year. That included more than $50,000 for television ads featuring him and $60,000 for gift cards.

Those had been authorized to be purchased with COVID-19 relief funds, but the audit found no evidence of using the money for that.
Fouts says the audit is “just another repeat of the same lies and distortions that have marked City Council’s entire term of office.”
Fouts has also been fighting in the courts, claiming his civil rights were violated when he was removed from the ballot of this year’s primary election due to term limits.
