LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The death tolled climbed to 1,200 on Monday after terrorists known as Hamas brutally slaughtered Israelis, beheading soldiers and dragging women, children, and babies into the streets to be raped and murdered. They killed hundreds at a music festival, paraded mutilated bodies through the streets, and kidnapped others.

As much of the world wept, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer appeared vaguely milquetoast in her response to the slaughter.

The internet did not hold back, and lambasted Whitmer over her failure to mention Israel or the unprovoked attacked. That prompted Whitmer to post another response later on Saturday. She added, “The images that continue to come out of Israel on the anniversary of the Yom Kippur War are devastating. The loss of lives in Israel –children and families – is absolutely heartbreaking and appalling. There is no justification for violence against Israel. My support is steadfast.”

However, the damage had already been done.

Whitmer’s apparent presidential aspirations are also the take from Michigan Rep. Anne Bollin (R-Brighton), as she said on The Steve Gruber Show on Monday.

“Gov. Whitmer is really trying to ride the fence on this one,” Bollin said. “That’s because she has future political ambitions and that’s maybe what motivated her comments.”

Former Ambassador, Congressman, and House Intelligence Chair Pete Hoekstra said Israel expected rockets, but they weren’t expecting a land incursion and that caught them off guard.

“The Biden administration ‘made nice’ with Iran,” Hoekstra said. “It’s clear this could not have happened without Iranian assistance. This attack was sanctioned by Tehran.” His comments refer to the $6 billion gifted to Iran recently from the Biden administration for “humanitarian aid.”

Hoekstra also mentioned the porous border at both the south and north sides of the U.S., saying the ripple effects of attacks like this could soon be seen on U.S. soil.

“There were reports of Hamas coming across the border when I was a Congressman ten years ago,” Hoekstra said.

Meanwhile, Congressman Jack Bergman (MI-01) said Hamas was emboldened by Iran.

“I hate to pin it on a presidency…but regardless of where we missed the intelligence, Iran blessed it,” Bergman said. “It all stems from the U.S. showing weakness.”

Gov. Whitmer, who has long bragged about “ridin with Biden” found the time on Monday to make a “Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day” video on social media.

“Today is about truth, justice, reconciliation, and friendship,” Whitmer said.
