PONTIAC, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The parents of the admitted Oxford High School shooter will not be able to leave jail to attend the December 8 sentencing of their son, according to a judge’s ruling last Friday.

James and Jennifer Crumbley are facing four counts of involuntary manslaughter connected to the deaths caused by their son, Ethan Crumbley. The now 17-year-old could be sentenced to life in prison. The Crumbleys have not had any contact with their son for two years.

In lieu of in-person attendance, the Crumbleys can watch the hearing online in jail, according to an assistant prosecutor.

The parents have been in custody since shortly after the November 2021 shooting. They are not able to afford a $500,000 bond. They are accused of contributing to the tragedy by making a gun accessible to their son at home and ignoring his mental health needs.

Ethan Crumbley admitted to shooting and killing four students were killed at Oxford High School in that shooting, as well as injuring six more students and a staff member.

The Crumbley’s trial starts on January 23.
