WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – More than a week after Hamas terrorists slaughtered 1,200 Israelis in an unprovoked attack, U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan) said she’s signed on to co-lead a House resolution calling for “an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Israel and occupied Palestine.”

Tlaib is the only Palestinian member of Congress, and has unapologetically pushed anti-semitic rhetoric during her time in the House. She aligns herself with similar like-minded people in “The Squad” like Rep. Ilan Oman (D-Minnesota), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York), and Rep. Cori Bush (D-Missouri).

Rep. Bush and a group of other progressive Democrats signed the resolution as well.

Last week, Tlaib blasted President Joe Biden and his administration for not showing enough empathy toward the Palestinian people with Israeli forces expected to mount a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip in response to a deadly attack staged by Hamas in southern Israel more than a week ago.

Colleague Rep. Jack Bergman (R-Michigan) has pushed for a censure of Tlaib, but little is getting done in the House currently as it waits to elect a new speaker.

Bergman isn’t the only fellow House member to take note of the Democrat party’s anti-Israeli bent. Last week, Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Michigan) announced his departure from the Democratic Socialists of America, citing his “constituent interests.”

President Joe Biden plans to travel to Israel on Wednesday. It took him 72 hours to comment on the original attacks. On the eve of his visit, Israel authorized an airstrike on a Gaza hospital in retaliation for Hamas’ attacks. Israel gave Palestinians 24-hours to leave before launching the attack.
