WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – With untold amounts of Americans stranded in Israel, Florida Rep. Republican Cory Mills, who is an Iraq war veteran, has taken it upon himself to rescue as many as he can. He also rescued Americans stranded in Afghanistan after the Biden administration left them stranded in the Middle East.

The congressman has already rescued 96 Americans out of Israel, even going to the war-torn country himself to make sure Americans got back to the United States safely. According to National Review, he’s also secured a charter aircraft that can hold 218 passengers in order to provide a safe and free way out of Israel.

Rep. Mills spoke to Fox News about the rescue and about the Biden administration’s failures including not putting people in the military cargo aircraft that are bringing supplies into Israel and then heading back out empty. He also complained about the Biden administration doing electronic forms to get out of Israel instead of putting people on the ground.

Mills said about the rescue, “I knew that they (Biden administration) had no plan, no strategy, that they were gonna leave Americans behind, but I had to put the pressure on them, and that’s why it was such a big deal to go over there. It’s really forced the hand of the White House to start stepping up. As I said multiple times, if Biden was unable and unwilling to do his job, then I’m gonna step up and do it for him.”

After running into many snags once he got into Israel, Rep. Mills told Fox News, “You adapt and overcome. You get on the ground and you make things happen because American lives are at stake.”

Rep. Mills said about the stranded Americans, “A lot of them had lost hope. They had no idea how they were getting out of there. Some of them had looked at ‘How am I gonna continue to even pay for a hotel? I don’t have the fees.’ Most of them had flights that had been cancelled over and over and over again.”

While Rep. Mills is offering free passage to get back to the United States, the Biden administration is not reported to be doing the same. In an interview with ABC-7 News in San Francisco, American Manny Yekutiel said that once the State Department gets Americans to a destination such as Germany, Greece or Cyprus in a chartered plane (or by ship), they are on their own from there. But even before departing Israel, they must sign an agreement to repay the U.S. government by agreeing to what basically amounts to a loan.

This is perhaps why Rep. Mills decided to take things into his own hands as did Governor Ron DeSantis who has issued an executive order authorizing charter flights to start bringing “more than 20,000 Americans, including many Floridians, in Israel” back to the United States. One of those planes just came home to Tampa, Florida on Sunday with 270 Americans, including 91 children and even some pet dogs.

The mission, called “Operation: Promised Land” is part of “Project Dynamo,” a veteran-led professional rescue organization. The governor’s office and the State’s Office of Emergency Management funded the rescue which included $4 million for the flight, hotel stays, rental cars and other services involved.

Among the 96 Americans that Rep. Mills rescued in Israel included the son of Rep. Bill Huizenga from Michigan. Although the representative hasn’t made any public comments about the rescue of his son, Rep. Huizenga, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, sent out a press release on October 10th after joining a bipartisan resolution in support of Israel and condemning the horrific attacks perpetrated by Hamas.

Congressman Bill Huizenga said, “This barbaric attack against Israel is completely unacceptable and cannot be tolerated. With 390 members of Congress coming together to condemn the savagery and atrocities committed by Hamas, it demonstrates the bipartisan strength and resolve of American support for Israel. The House must address this terrorist act as soon as possible.”

Rep. Huizenga has also introduced the “No U.S. Financing for Iran Act” which he says would effectively cut off the Iranian Government from the U.S. financial system.  Additionally, this measure would prevent the Export-Import Bank as well as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from financing projects associated with the Government of Iran.
