DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – One third of the Big 3 reached a tentative deal with the United Auto Workers Union, and that means crucial steps will be taken this weekend to ratify a contract between the rank-and-file and Ford.

The UAW National Council will travel to Detroit for a meeting on Sunday. It will vote on whether to send the tentative agreement to members.

The UAW and Ford struck a tentative deal on Wednesday, 40 days into the strike. Ford workers are now off the picket lines and back on the assembly lines. Among other things, the tentative deal includes a 25% wage increase for hourly workers.

General Motors and Stellantis are still bargaining contracts with the UAW.

UAW President Shawn Fain is expected to give a Facebook Live announcement on Sunday after the National Council meets.
