LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A Michigan House committee has approved a bill to repeal the state’s ban on local governments being allowed to ban single-use plastic bags.

Washtenaw County enacted the ban several years ago, but it went away with a 2016 law that removed the ability of local governments to make the decision and put it in the hands of the state. The bill would overturn the 2016 law and give the authority back to local units of government.
