LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A group of 39 Michigan Republicans are fed up with the party’s leadership and are looking to oust GOP Chair Kristina Karamo.
If the request for a special meeting of the GOP’s state committee is granted, the removal consideration could come on December 27. Some Republicans are also looking to unseat a few members of Karamo’s leadership team.

The vote would come on the heels of the 2024 presidential election cycle, and the all-Blue Michigan is expected to be a swing state.
Karamo, who ran for Secretary of State in 2022 and lost to Jocelyn Benson, campaigned on widespread fraud in the 2020 presidential election and how she would fix election fraud. If the special meeting takes place, 75 of the 100 members of the state committee would have to vote in favor of removing Karamo for the measure to pass.
Party delegates elected Karamo as chair in February. While her focus appears to be on election fraud and electing Donald Trump, the embattled Michigan GOP lacks serious cash to put behind its candidates. In addition, some within the party have discussed widening divisions within the party and chaos over its lack of a unified party message.
