LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Many Michiganders are proving that they have long-term memories that won’t let them forget Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s COVID-19 lockdown policies or her bribe to open Michigan back up in 2021 if a certain percentage of people received the COVID-19 vaccine.
That became evident this week after Gov. Whitmer signed legislation repealing Michigan’s immunity shield for drug manufacturers. According to a press release from Whitmer’s office, this makes Michigan the final state in the nation to repeal the shield and allow Michiganders to hold drug companies accountable if they or a family member are harmed.

“When you take a prescription drug, you should have confidence to know that it is safe, and if it harms you or your family, you deserve accountability,” Whitmer said on Thursday. “By fighting for consumers, we will also ensure that companies doing good work can outcompete and outperform companies that prioritize padding their profits over delivering quality products for people.”
Although this new law applies to opioids and prescription drugs, it does not apply to vaccines. Pfizer and Moderna, who received Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for its COVID-19 vaccine three years ago, also received immunity from lawsuits tied to injuries from the vaccine for a period of four years. The 2005 Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act (PREP) triggered in 2020 provides legal protection for companies making or distributing critical medical supplies. The exception is “willful misconduct” by the company.
Many in the healthcare industry and the miliary lost their jobs after refusing to take the experimental vaccine.
These facts have not been lost on Michiganders.
