LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Attorney General Dana Nessel has filed an emergency parole appeal in Washtenaw County as she seeks to reverse the parole granted to a convicted rapist.

Forty-four-year-old John Lee had been sentenced to life in prison in 1999 for kidnapping and raping a 13-year-old girl when he sexually assaulted her on the floor of his mother’s garage.

Lee had been scheduled to be paroled this week but Nessel said there is no “sufficient evidence of rehabilitation or meaningful remorse, and he should remain in prison.”

A status conference has been scheduled for January 30 and he will remain in prison.
