GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Grand Rapids Fire Department is sounding the alarm over the dangers of large icicles on homes.
Fire officials say they’ve had multiple calls where large icicles fell off roofs and caused gas leaks and fires.

In addition, fire crews urge residents to ensure that intake and exhaust for furnaces are clear of snow outside; if they are blocked, carbon monoxide can build up inside a home.
When large chunks of ice or snow begin to melt and fall off roofs, they can block intake and exhaust lines.
