LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer delivered her sixth State of the State Address on Wednesday night. She laid out her priorities over the next legislative year, including tax-payer funded community college education, building affordable housing, and expanding low-tax Renaissance Zones.
While Democrats gave Whitmer many standing ovations, Republicans pushed back over the feasibility of her goals. State Senator Jon Bumstead (R-North Muskegon) said Whitmer failed to address the root causes of why people are choosing to move out of Michigan.

Meanwhile, State Senator Mark Huizenga (R-Walker) said Whitmer’s talk of “free” didn’t specify that someone has to pay for it.
The Michigan Senate will resume session on Tuesday while the Michigan House reported to work on Thursday.
