LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has inked a seven-figure book deal with Simon and Shuster set to be released in June.
Page Six reports that Whitmer signed the deal with Simon & Schuster “for a book to be rushed out as soon as possible.”
Why is a book deal relevant?

Publishing a memoir like the one Whitmer is expected to pen is sometimes a precursor to running for president. Whitmer has been rumored to be a potential Democratic presidential nominee if President Joe Biden is passed over by his own party. Biden’s abysmal approval rating and failed policies continue to plague his administration.
The 52-year-old Whitmer likely won’t make a move without specific marching orders from the Democratic Party. She currently serves as co-chair of his reelection committee and has praised his administration.
Is Whitmer a good candidate?
While some see Whitmer as the darling of the Democratic party, others are not so quick to jump on the bandwagon. Whitmer’s non-sensical policies during the COVID-19 pandemic marked some of the strictest in the country and Michigan residents haven’t forgotten that. She urged Michiganders not to travel to Florida during spring break, but two members of her administration and Whitmer spent time the Sunshine State anyway.
Businesses forced to close down for two separate lockdown periods are pleading a case before the Michigan Supreme Court arguing they are owed compensation for the business Whitmer cost them.
Some can’t forget how Whitmer forced COVID-19 positive patients back in nursing homes; others remember saying a final goodbye to loved ones through glass since they weren’t allowed to meet in person per Whitmer’s COVID rules.
There’s also the issue of abortion. During Michigan’s Democratic stronghold in 2023, she enshrined abortion in the constitution per a ballot proposal. Among other things, it allows abortion up through the moment of birth. Abortion rights is still seen as a major reason people will go to the polls in 2024.
