DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – President Joe Biden will visit Detroit on Thursday to meet with the United Auto Workers (UAW) union, one day after former President Donald Trump flipped the scripts and chatted with members of the Teamsters.

Trump met with leaders of the Teamsters Union in Washington on Wednesday as he tried to rattle the endorsement sent Biden’s way by the UAW.

Trump participated in a round table and tried to win over the rank-and-file. Typically, unions have backed Democratic candidates. However, blue-collar workers helped propel Trump to victory in 2016.

Michigan, although traditionally “Blue” has been described as a “Purple” swing state. It put support behind Biden in 2020 but his trailing approval ratings and inaction at the southern border could cost him votes.
