LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer took to social media this week to discuss March is Reading Month, and admitted that Michigan still faces significant challenges when it comes to literacy.
The Michigan Senate is eyeing bills that reform the way dyslexic students are taught and ensure a library in every school.

Data from November 2023 shows one-third of Michigan third-grade students tested below state proficiency levels on reading last year. More than five percent of students tested more than a year behind in reading.
