CADILLAC, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan blueberry farmers are concerned about this year’s crop as many farms are reporting their bushes are budding early.
In Wexford County, Double L Farms owner Derek Larrance says the plants are being tricked by warm weather into thinking it’s later in the season than it is, and they are coming out of dormancy.

In addition, he says the risk comes when the buds get to the point of opening up, because a hard freeze would destroy the buds.
