FLINT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – In a shocking incident captured on a nanny cam, 26-year-old caregiver Dontia Shawnra Arrington stands accused of violently assaulting a 93-year-old dementia patient at Landings of Genesee Valley in Flint, Michigan, on April 4th.

The Daily Mail has released the distressing footage shows Arrington repeatedly hitting the elderly woman with a soiled diaper, then attempting to choke her in the bathroom. Later, in the bedroom, Arrington slaps the woman while wearing hygiene gloves and appears to threaten her.

The victim’s family, who had noticed bruises on her as far back as December, planted the nanny cam to investigate. The footage not only revealed the abuse but also caught staff stealing from the elderly woman.

Daughter reacts to seeing video.

Emotions ran high as the victim’s daughter watched the video during a press conference, expressing horror and disbelief at the cruelty inflicted upon her mother. The victim, diagnosed with severe dementia, was left defenseless against the vicious attacks.

The family has since moved her to a different facility, but she remains traumatized by the ordeal. Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson emphasized the vulnerability of the victim, stating that she couldn’t comprehend the gravity of the situation.

Prosecutor David Leyton condemned the actions, promising to pursue harsh charges against Arrington, including torture and vulnerable adult abuse, which could lead to life imprisonment. Despite Arrington’s lack of a violent history, authorities are determined to hold her accountable for the reprehensible abuse of a defenseless elderly woman.
