WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – Michigan Congressman Tim Walberg (R-Tipton) issued a response after enduring criticism from Democratic colleagues when a video surfaced of him saying the way to end the Israel-Hamas war should “be like Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Get it over quick.”

The Republican Congressman made the comments at a town hall in Dundee last week.

Walberg said the U.S. should not be spending money on humanitarian aid in the Gaza region, and referenced the way to defeat Hamas would be like Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Those are the two Japanese cities that endured the first atomic weapons.

Walberg issued his statement on social media.

Michigan News Source reached out to Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-Detroit), the only Palestinian member of Congress for a response regarding her colleague’s comments. She did not respond by press time.
