WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – Congress appears to be on board for the long haul when it comes to never-ending aid for Ukraine, but Rep. John Moolenaar (MI-02) is not one of those congressmen.

‘We can’t simply write a blank check for continued conflict,” he told The Steve Gruber Show on Thursday.

Moolenaar counted himself as one of the “nay” votes in the House’s recent passage of $95 billion aid package earmarked for Ukraine along with Israel and Taiwan. It earned approval in the Senate this week and now heads to President Joe Biden’s desk.

“There’s no doubt that Ukraine needs to defeat Russia in this war,” Moolenaar said in the interview. “But I believe President Biden needs to put forth an effective strategy. He’s got to define what success looks like in this conflict.”

All of Michigan’s Republicans in the House voted no on the bill except Congressman John James (MI-10). All Democrats voted yes except Rep. Debbie Dingell who marked “not voting.”  Michigan’s two Democratic Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters both voted “yes.”
