LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Former Michigan House Speaker Lee Chatfield and his wife, Stephanie Chatfield, have pleaded not guilty to criminal charges of embezzled funds from a nonprofit organization.
The Chatfields appeared over Zoom for Thursday’s arraignment. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel unveiled the charges against them on April 16.

A judge gave the Chatfields the okay to travel to the Kentucky.
The 35-year-old Chatfield held the top position in the state House for in 2019 and 2020 before term limits stopped him from running again.
Lee Chatfield’s main nonprofit account, the Peninsula Fund, reported raising $1.3 million from donors. A preliminary exam is set for June 13.
