MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Mecosta County planning commission has called off its scheduled public hearing for the site plan review of Gotion Inc. originally set for 6 p.m. today.

This decision comes amidst recent developments concerning the jurisdiction over zoning and land use requests, with the Green Charter Township board of trustees adopting an interim zoning ordinance on April 29th as we reported recently.

Gotion Inc. is seeking approval for their proposed EV battery component manufacturing facility in Green Charter Township and the company has sued the Township over a possible breach of contract.

Annette Coles, Director of Building & Zoning at Mecosta County, told Michigan News Source, “Mecosta County’s Legal Council has advised the Mecosta County Planning Commission to cancel the Special Meeting on May 1, 2024, for Site Plan Review of the Gotion Battery facility. This was cancelled due to Green Charter Township adopting their own interim zoning ordinance and making it effective immediately.”
