GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A Grand Rapids college has named a its new baseball coach.

Calvin University has hired Grand Rapids native Joel Schipper as the Knights new baseball coach. He succeeds Kevin Van Duyn, who retired in May after leading Calvin for the past five seasons.

Schipper says Van Duyn hired him as an assistant six years ago and returning to Grand Rapids is very special to him. He had been the coach of Hastings College in Nebraska for the past three seasons and graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School and Grand Valley State University.
