FLINT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Flint City Council is mourning the loss of a second member this year.

Flint third ward councilman Quincy Murphy has died, the city announced on Sunday. Murphy began his term as Flint’s third ward councilman after winning the 2022 election. Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley said, “During this difficult time of grief, I ask our community to respect the privacy of Councilman Murphy’s family. This is a moment to come together as one unified community in the spirit of service that Mr. Murphy embodied.”

Flags in the city will be lowered to half-staff in Councilman Murphy’s honor starting today. The council has been hit hard this year. In February, Flint City councilman Eric Mays died.
