LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – One Michigan lawmaker is continuing to sound the alarm over Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and the Democratic Party’s intention to “break the law” before the November 2024 election.

State Senator Jim Runestad (R-White Lake) told The Steve Gruber Show on Thursday that Benson is on “a new tear” to rewrite the rules of the election illegally. Runestad said Benson wants to rewrite new election rules passed by Michigan’s Democratic majority which aren’t scheduled to take effect until 2025.

“They’re intending to break the law,” Runestad said. “You cannot by law write whole new provisions not pertinent to a bill.”

Benson continues to be dragged in and out of court over her alleged election authoritarianism, and has still not cleaned up the voter rolls. Runestad said the Republican National Committee (RNC) is ready to file a lawsuit when or if these new rules are pushed through.

In the meantime, Senator Runestad is letting Michigan voters know what they can do to combat the illegal activity.
He said Benson is trying to sidestep the rule-making process “in the dead of night” by appealing to the Joint
Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR). Runestad serves on JCAR and said he wants everyone to contact the committee and tell them they know what Benson is trying to do.

“Don’t think you’ll get away with this without a lot of controversy,” he said. “We’re going to be there on this [and] it’s going to be the cluster of all clusters.”
