LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan’s open seat in the U.S. Senate may continue to boast a Democratic stronghold if the polls ring true on Nov. 5.

In an exclusive Michigan News Source and Mitchell Research and Communications, Inc. poll, the race between Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D) and Mike Rogers (R) show a five-point gap. Slotkin has 49% of the vote while Rogers has 44%.

Michigan’s representation in the U.S. Senate has been Democratic for several decades.

Meanwhile, the same poll found former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are in a statistical dead heat. In an eight-way race, the poll shows Trump and Harris both with 48%.

Election season is underway in Michigan with absentee voting already taking place. There will be nine days of early, in-person voting prior to the Nov. 5 election.
