GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A 26-year-old “Venezuelan national” is now behind bars after allegedly breaking into an ATM on Sunday and leading west Michigan police on a chase.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a man allegedly breaking into an ATM at the Lake Trust Credit Union. Deputies said when they arrived, the suspect sped away. He eventually crashed into a median, where he hopped out of his car and tried to escape deputies on foot. Law enforcement eventually found him hiding under industrial equipment.

The suspect is currently housed in the Ottawa County Jail on multiple charges. Police have not identified whether he is in the country legally.
